CMC Accreditations in the “Triple Crown” group

in

There are three accreditation agencies that are recognized world-wide: AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA. These three are part of the so-called ‘Triple Crown’ accreditation group, meaning they are equally important.

AACSB is the primary accreditation body in the US with an expanding global outreach in the last decade. This is the oldest accreditation (founded in 1916), hence it’s well-known. EQUIS is the accreditation body in Europe, based in Brussels. EQUIS stresses high academic quality but also strong interface with the corporate world.  EQUIS has also started accrediting US based institutions. This accreditation is not primarily focused on the MBA program, but rather they assess institutions as a whole. AMBA is the UK based accreditation body, representing the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. AMBA has historically focused its reviews on the MBA program itself rather than the broad characteristics of a larger institution. They have expanded their reviews to Doctoral and Master of Management/Science programs.

Most reputable schools have been accredited by at least one of these associations and MSM has been granted AMBA accreditation, i.e. for its MBA, DBA, and MSc programs.

It’s also important to mention that there are other smaller accreditation bodies that also play very important roles. ACBSP for example concentrates on teaching excellence, while IACBE concentrates on the outcomes assessment (retaining knowledge). AACSB is more rigorous when it comes to research output and academia but ACBSP is a more innovative body on how to deliver education.

The goal of CMC is to have at least one of the ‘Triple Crown” accreditations and then combine it with other accreditations that fits our mission, strategy, and plans. The initial goals of CMC are now focused on Central European markets (Prague, Warsaw, Bratislava and Budapest), therefore AMBA is strongly important for our future operations.
