Management’s decision-making and its consequences

Management’s decision-making and its consequences

Thinking allows for proper decision-making…

22nd November 2010 (from 9 am till 5 pm)

Workshop Objectives:

An essential management skill is the art of decision-making. The aim of the decision making process is to choose such ‚activities‘ which suit the whole team /company/. In order to find the right decision, it is important to consider both parts of the process – the quantity /the numeral part of the decison puzzle/ and the quality /the political part of the puzzle/. In the modelling process of decision-making managers will be able to predict and also react upon the future consequences.

The content of workshop:

Solving complicated situations with one move decision. Process of management’s decision making: considering of all consequences of
such decisions and finding a balance between personal and company
views of success. Considerate decision-making is the key to success.

The world is what it is – there is no need to be upset with its imperfections. In case you find your own way of ‚considering and finding‘  all possible consequences, your decision-making will be much easier for you. The correct technique of decision-making affects the final results.
Basic questions:

  • What is the problem?
  • What might be the consequences?
  • What is the worst that could happen?
  • What can I do about it?
  • What are the possible solutions?
  • What solutions are adequate? And which is better?
  • How urgent it is to adopt the solution?
  • What political consequences such solution may have?
  • Who are the allies and who are the enemies?
  • How to make the most out of this situation?

During this workshop, managers are going to be able to realize, that it is impossible to reach ‚an ideal situation‘ in work experience. It is important to consider both tactical and political consequences of their decision - the future profits and revenues – on the part of revenues and losses as well as  reputation.

  • Understanding of the interest principles of groups is a good step to success.
  • The next step is adapting ‚the solution‘ to the work environment where it will be brought into practise.
  • The third important step is considering of the size of the decision ‚acceptance‘ in the given environment and getting ‚sponsors‘ ready.

Finding ‚one‘ solution process that satisfies most of the interest groups will help to higher level of accepted decisions. Decision-making technique in difficult situations will be accompanied by practical examples.
